Field to Table Schools Summer Intern

FoodShare Toronto is looking for a passionate and creative educator with a strong understanding of the food system, including nutrition and cooking, gardening, composting and local food to support the Field to Table Schools program during July and August.

Job Components

• Developing resources for the Field to Table Schools program
• Co-facilitating workshops for children, youth and adults
• Supporting the care and maintenance of onsite gardens
• Other duties assigned as required

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and youth
• Demonstrated interest in issues of food security and nutrition among children and youth
• Understanding of community development
• Experience gardening, cooking and composting
• Strong oral speaking, communications and interpersonal skills
• Ability to plan and facilitate workshops and meetings
• Experience working with/in non for profit sector
• Experience in preparing reports, budgets and financial statements
• Computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, email, internet)

This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Please indicate in your application if you meet the following criteria:

• Are between 15-30 years of age (inclusive)
• Were registered as full-time students during the last academic year
• Intend to return to school on a full time basis during the next academic year
• Is a student in a post-secondary, vocational or technical program
• Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
• Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations.

Hours of work: 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday 

Compensation: $10.25/hr
