Field to Table Schools Summer Intern
FoodShare Toronto is looking for a passionate and creative educator with a strong understanding of the food system, including nutrition and cooking, gardening, composting and local food to support the Field to Table Schools program during July and August.
Job Components
- Developing resources for the Field to Table Schools program
- Co-facilitating workshops for children, youth and adults
- Supporting the care and maintenance of onsite gardens
- Other duties assigned as required
Qualifications
- Experience working with children and youth
- Demonstrated interest in issues of food security and nutrition among children and youth
- Understanding of community development
- Experience gardening, cooking and composting
- Strong oral speaking, communications and interpersonal skills
- Ability to plan and facilitate workshops and meetings
- Experience working with/in non for profit sector
- Experience in preparing reports, budgets and financial statements
- Computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, email, internet)
This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Please indicate in your application if you meet the following criteria:
- Are between 15-30 years of age (inclusive)
- Were registered as full-time students during the last academic year
- Intend to return to school on a full time basis during the next academic year
- Is a student in a post-secondary, vocational or technical program
- Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations.
Hours of work: 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday
Compensation: $10.25/hr
