MP James Maloney – started in public office in 2014, when Toronto City Council appointed him Councillor of Ward 5. Since then he was elected as Member of Federal Parliament to represent Etobicoke—Lakeshore. James is the former President of the Toronto Lawyers Club and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the local Franklin Horner Community Centre and the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto – a non-profit organization that works with community partners throughout Toronto to support children and families. James was a successful civil trial lawyer and partner at Hughes Amys LLP. He has lived and worked in Etobicoke for nearly 40 years.

MPP Peter Milczyn – was first elected to the Ontario Legislature in 2014 as the MPP for Etobicoke-Lakeshore. Peter currently serves as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Labour, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Infrastructure, and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister responsbile for Francophone Affairs. He also serves as the Chair of Toronto and Francophone Caucuses and as the Chair of the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs.

MPP Yvan Baker – was elected to the Ontario legislature in 2014 as the MPP for Etobicoke Centre. He currently serves as Parliamentary Assistant to Charles Sousa, Minister of Finance. Previously, Yvan served as Parliamentary Assistant to Deb Matthews, President of the Treasury Board from 2014-2016. In addition to his role at the Ministry of Finance, Yvan also holds several other legislative responsibilities including Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister Responsible for Digital Government; Commissioner, Board of Internal Economy. Yvan’s background is as a business advisor, teacher and community leader.

Piragal Thiru – is the co-founder of Economic Development Centre for Tamils ( and has a Masters degree in Public Policy, Administration & Law. He is currently a senior policy professional at a regional government specializing in transportation and accessibility related projects. With over 16 years of experience working for municipal and regional governments, Piragal has a wealth of policy knowledge and a greater understanding of how governments and businesses work. Through EDCT, Piragal is currently focusing on improving investment and trade between Ontario and the North and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka.

Jeff Bangs – specializes in public sector decision making, campaign management, public policy advocacy, stakeholder relations and organizational change. He has served as the Principal Secretary to the Premier and the Chief of Staff to the Minister of Finance. Jeff has an extensive background in the recreational trails sector. He is one of the founding architects of the National Trails Coalition and is the lead advisor to the Ontario Power Sports Working Group. Jeff is a member of CPA Ontario’s Public Accounting Licencing Board. Jeff is an occasional guest lecturer in the post graduate government relations program at Seneca College.

Menelaos (Manny) Argiropoulos – has been working for Public Works and Government Services Canada, Ontario Region since 1991. He has held various positions, ranging from Real Estate Advisor to Geomatics Project Manager and is currently the Chief, SME Stakeholder Engagement with the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises (OSME). Mr. Argiropoulos is responsible for supplier outreach and engagement for OSME. He also delivers seminars that assist and inform suppliers in Ontario on how to do business with the Government of Canada, The Build in Canada Innovation Program, how to navigate the federal procurement system and how to utilize , the federal procurement website.

Kevin Fox – a Senior Procurement Consultant in the Program and Policy Enablement Branch of the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services, Supply Chain Ontario. He leads the Doing Business with the Ontario Government vendor outreach sessions throughout the province.  Kevin has had extensive procurement experience with provincial, federal and municipal government organizations throughout his former corporate career.

Victoria Russell – was Vice President and General Counsel of Goldcorp Inc, one of the largest gold companies in the world. She has been on various boards and is currently the President of the Lawyers Club of Toronto. Previously she was a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Law School at Queen’s University, Kingston, and she was also a member of the University Council for Queen’s University for more than 20 years. She was appointed as a member of the judiciary on a part-time basis from 2000-2009. She has been on the executive of the Natural Resources and Energy Section of the Ontario Bar Association. She is a member of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum and the American Bar Association. Victoria Russell was the creator and on-air Host of the Commodities Report, a half-hour national TV show on the business channel, BNN. Earlier in her career, she was the Legal Correspondent for CBC’s “The National”, CBC National TV News and she was responsible for reporting on all legal matters for the network. Ms. Russell has also had her own radio spot on local radio, and has written numerous newspaper articles on the law. She has been a university professor and taught business law.

Andre van der Heyden – bilingual (French/English) consultant focusing on international trade and development with experience in sales and business development towards both the private and public sector. His positions included responsibility over the sales force, including mentoring them in order to improve their performance and to help them close deals. He has negotiated consortial offerings as well as a National Master Standing Offer (NMSO) with the Federal Government. He is actively involved in the administration of the Belgian Canadian Business Chamber, a volunteer-run non-profit organization, which seeks to foster contacts and relationships for our members and third-parties who share an interest in developing business and trade opportunities between Canada and Belgium.

Specialties: Bilingual negotiations, consortia & government (all levels) liason, product training for clients, company representation at conferences & tradeshows, staff performance mentoring/coaching, grant applications, administration of volunteer non-profit organizations.

Anastasios Moussas – founder of Integrated Consulting Services (ICS), a privately owned and managed Consulting Firm, specializing in the provision of business and legal consulting, such as translation, interpretation, document production and writing. Member of the Canadian Association of Immigration Consultants (CAPIC), the Ordre des Traducteurs, Terminologues et Interprètes Agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ), the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO), the Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters Council (CTTIC) and the Association of American Translators (ATA).

Cathy Hume – built her career in Investor Relations specializing in small cap companies upon recognizing their intrinsic needs from the point of view of a Toronto retail broker, a position she held for 11 years. Cathy’s integrity and personable personality has fostered enduring business relationships and has permitted her IR portfolio of clients to grow exclusively from referrals since 1993. Tapped for her pioneering perspective in IR, Cathy is an instructor of Ryerson University”s new course “Resource Valuation, Financing, and Investor Relations” offered by The Chang School of Business as part of its Certificate in Mining Management.

Oleksandr Romanko, Ph.D. – is a Senior Research Analyst, Quantitative Research, Risk Analytics – Business Analytics, IBM, Toronto, Canada. He works in the area of risk management, finance, optimization, operational research, mathematical modelling, data mining, algorithms and software. He has advanced training in optimization methods in finance and economics, financial modelling, risk management and portfolio management. He possesses programming skills and expertise in mathematical software development and has knowledge of system architectures and operating systems.
