01/01/2014 – Toronto – Young Professionals and Skilled Workers Association (YPSWA) is proud to announce the completion of the “Expression through the Arts” (ETA) project, the latest project organized by YPSWA that mentored and engaged seniors, adults and youth, alike.

The objective of this project was to have seniors mentor seniors, adult, youth and/or youth mentoring seniors. The project was based on a premise, “art by seniors for seniors”. It was open to all interested individuals, who wanted to improve their art skills and techniques or simply paint for pleasure in the circle of friends, peers, helpful mentors and youth. In fact, no prerequisite skills were necessary in order to participate in the ETA project.

Through this project, YPSWA also attempted to combat in the community isolationism among seniors, narrow down the intergeneration gap between seniors and other groups of society as well as provide meaningful opportunities for young artists to collaborate with older and more professional artists.

At the end of the ETA project, participants painted three art works and each painted few wooden statues and other forms.

YPSWA is a not-for-profit and federally registered and community-based organization, which offers a great way for young professionals, skilled workers and apprentices to network, socialize and expand their professional horizons.
