New mining sector-skills training program
On August 20, 2013, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced more than $5.8 million over two years – through Employment and Social Development Canada’s Skills and Partnership Fund (SPF) – to the Northwest Territories Mine Training Society for a new mining sector-skills training program. This program will help Aboriginal participants gain the training they need to access the jobs and prosperity generated by this industry. Rooftops Canada, is recruiting four interns to work with partner organizations in Sub Saharan Africa. These six-month internships are part of our program with the Canadian International Development Agency’s Partnerships with Canadians Branch. Canada partners with Ryerson University to help protect children and youth in the Dominican Republic
This investment will help Ryerson University, in line with the intentions of the Government of the Dominican Republic, to improve the skills of government agencies and civil society organizations responsible for protecting these vulnerable groups from abuse and sexual or labour exploitation.
